Home to boutique stores, high-end coffee shops, and music venues, historic Silver Lake and nearby Echo Park have been dubbed the hipster epicenter of the Eastside. The stretch of Sunset Boulevard that runs through the area boasts some of the city’s most popular bars, night clubs and restaurants. The neighborhood features a younger, highly diverse population and a prominent LGBT community as well.
Silverlake, voted Forbes’ hippest neighborhood and built around a city reservoir, Silverlake is well-known for its trendy restaurants, nightlife, and avante garde Modernist architecture. Since the end of 1990’s the area has also been the center of Los Angeles’ indie and alternative music scene. Silverlake has long been a preferred community, but approximately 15 years ago when gentri?cation began in earnest, home values and rents have sharply increased.
